Trying to change my e-mail address, and I go to the verification e=mail it sends, and I click the link, it takes me to the page, but will not say verified in my account so I can make it primary. Really need to change it, because I no long have access to my old e-mail address.

    Hi Debbie Allen

I understand that the verification email arrives and the link opens, but the new address remains unverified, so you cannot make it your primary alias.

    Please try the following:

    1. Sign out of all Microsoft accounts in the browser.
    2. Open an InPrivate/Incognito window and sign in to the Microsoft account you are trying to update.
    3. Open Manage how you sign in to Microsoft
    4. Beside the new email address, select "Verify" and request a new verification email.
    5. Open only the newest verification email, then follow its verification link in the same private browser session.
    6. Return to the alias-management page and check whether "Make primary" is now available beside the new address.

For reference, you can see: Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support

If the link still returns to the account page without verifying the address, could you confirm:

    • Does the page display an error message, or does it return without changing the status?
    • Is the new address an Outlook.com/Hotmail address or an address from another provider?
    • Is that address already used to sign in to a different Microsoft account?
