Log-in Info not saving on ANY platform/site

Some time back, I set my settings so that it would delete my history automatically whenever I closed the window. Even when I select options like "stay signed in" or for things that I should be staying logged in to, such as Netflix, it would not keep me signed in, and it would wipe my entire login history. Is there a way to keep myself signed in, or is this just something that comes with wiping history?

Hi there!

Based on your description, this behavior is most likely related to your browser's privacy settings. If you've configured your browser to automatically clear browsing data when you close it, it may also be deleting the cookies that websites use to remember your sign-in status so it is normal that you will be logged out even if you have saved your login info.

Here are a few things to check for (Edge browser):

  1. Don't Clear Cookies on Exit
    • Open your browser's Settings.
    • Go to Privacy (or Privacy, search, and services if you're using Microsoft Edge).
    • If Clear browsing data on close is enabled, make sure Cookies and other site data is unchecked. You can continue clearing your browsing history while keeping cookies.
  2. Allow Cookies
    • Ensure your browser is not blocking all cookies, especially first-party cookies. Websites like Netflix and other online services require cookies to keep you signed in.
  3. Check if You're Using InPrivate/Incognito Mode
    • Browsing in a private window automatically deletes cookies and site data when you close the window, so sign-in information won't be saved.
  4. Verify Password Saving
    • If your browser offers to save passwords, make sure this feature is enabled:
    • In Microsoft Edge: Settings > Profiles > Passwords.
    • Confirm that Offer to save passwords is turned on.

Once you have configured the above, you can also test it and see if it will work. I hope the information helps! More details can also be found on the Microsoft support page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/view-and-delete-browser-history-in-microsoft-edge
