Xbox "Playable on PC + Xbox" vs Xbox Play Anywhere

I am confused with the Xbox Play Anywhere. Is a single copy of a digital game only able to be played on PC and Xbox if it has the "play anywhere" badge?

What if it only has "Playable on Xbox + Pc" but not play anywhere badge?

For example, a game I am looking at has Playable on Xbox and Pc, but it doesn't have the play anywhere badge. Does this mean I can buy one copy and play it on Xbox and PC? The game in specific Halo Campaign Evolved Premium Edition. If this game is somehow an exception, please note how.

When a game has both “Playable on Xbox” and “Playable on PC,” that only means the game is available on both platforms. To actually play, you generally need to buy the Xbox and PC versions separately.

With Xbox Play Anywhere, you buy the game once and can play it on Xbox, Windows PC, and supported handhelds at no additional cost.

Halo: Campaign Evolved supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so one digital purchase covers all those platforms.
