Windows 10 Taskbar Toolbar "quick launch" icons disappear with KB5099539

Question

After installing KB5099539 on Windows 10 22H2, any folder assigned as a Taskbar Toolbar (including Quick Launch or a newly created folder) causes all .lnk shortcut icons in that folder to disappear. The shortcuts function normally before being assigned to a toolbar. The issue is resolved by uninstalling KB5099539.

Apologies for the experience like that. I have seen at least 1 report of this.

Could you file a bug report:

Then,

1. Go to My feedback.
2. Select the feedback item you want to share.
3. Click Share.
4. Choose Copy short link (or Copy long link) and send that link. Microsoft uses an https://aka.ms/... link that opens the specific feedback item.
5. Send this over here so that I can send it to the Engineers.

Also, since Windows 11 now allows you to pause updates indefinitely, you should pause it for at least August 13th.
