    Welcome Bruce Epstein,

I understand how frustrating it can be when a black "Please select language" box remains visible on your Windows 11 screen after setting up your new computer.

Before proceeding, could you please clarify:

    • Does the box appear immediately after sign-in or only when specific applications are open?
    • Is it always visible, or does it disappear when you switch to another user account?

Building on the earlier suggestions, you might also consider the following options:

Option 1: Check the Input Indicator settings

    • Open Settings > Personalization > Taskbar
    • Expand System tray icons
    • Turn Input Indicator Off, then restart Windows

Option 2: Check installed keyboard languages

    • Open Settings > Time & language > Language & region
    • Remove any keyboard layouts or languages you do not use
    • Restart the computer

Option 3: Restart the Text Input service

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
    • Go to Details
    • End TextInputHost.exe if present
    • Sign out and sign back in

Option 4: Perform a Clean Boot test

    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter
    • On the Services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services
    • Click Disable all
    • Restart and check whether the box still appears

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.

    Hi, good day!

To help identify the cause, could you please provide a screenshot of the black "Please select language" box.

In the meantime, try restarting your computer and pressing Alt + Shift or Windows + Spacebar to cycle through the available input languages.

I look forward to your update and am willing to collaborate with you until we resolve the issue. Keep me posted by clicking "Add comments" below.
