How can I restore previous version of WORD?

The recently revised Word program is much too difficult for me to use.

I have been using Word professionally for more than 20 years and have

come to rely on it. But I am uncomfortable with the "upgrade" recently

imposed.

What can I do to revert to the previous version?

As others have asked, which version is it that you have switched to?

Word has certainly changed over the years, but it's been almost 20 years since the most recent major change—the introduction of the ribbon interface, which occurred in 2007.

No one knows which version of Office you had then, and which you have now.

The current version of Office is called Microsoft 365. It gets updated on a regular basis and once it has been updated, you can't go back to the way it was before. That's by design - the idea is that all users have the most up-to-date version of the software.

There are a few earlier versions of Office that are still supported, depending on whether you are using Windows or MacOS. For example, if you use Windows, Microsoft Office 2024 is still supported. You can't 'downgrade' from Microsoft 365 to Office 2024. Instead you have to uninstall Microsoft 365 and replace it with Office 2024.

If you tell us which version of Office you had then, and which you have now, and what operating system you use (e.g., Windows 11, Windows 10, MacOS Tahoe 26) we can tell you what your choices are. But you need to know ... nothing from 20 years ago is supported today.

If you have a modern version of Office usually you cannot revert to a previous version of Office after the Office suite has been updated.

    1

What version of Microsoft Office do you have, is that a subscription to Microsoft 365 or a standalone version of Office like Office 2019, 2021 or 2024.

    2

Are you using Office on a Windows device or an apple Mac computer.
