Hi michael fecteau,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Q&A community.
First, I'd like to clarify that Microsoft Q&A is a public, peer-to-peer support forum staffed by community members, moderators, and technical contributors. We do not have access to customer accounts, nor do we have the ability to call customers or arrange direct contact with Microsoft Customer Service on your behalf.
Regarding your issue where the Gmail mailbox in Outlook will not expand or display emails, this is commonly related to Gmail synchronization, IMAP settings, or Outlook authentication with Google.
Please try the following:
- Sign in to Gmail using a web browser and confirm that your emails are visible there.
- In Gmail, go to Settings > See all settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP and verify that IMAP is enabled.
- In Gmail Settings > Labels, ensure the folders/labels you want to see in Outlook are set to Show in IMAP.
- In Outlook, right-click the Gmail account and select Update Folder List.
- If the problem persists, remove the Gmail account from Outlook and add it again. During the Google sign-in process, make sure all requested permissions are granted to Microsoft Outlook.
If the problem persists, please let us know:
- Are you using Classic Outlook or New Outlook?
- Is this a personal Gmail account or a Google Workspace account?
- Do you receive any error message when attempting to expand the Gmail folders?
- Can you access the emails directly from the Gmail website?
With that information, we can provide more targeted troubleshooting steps.
