Welcome Arnav,
I understand how frustrating it can be when your in-ear monitor microphone is suddenly picking up audio playing from your PC (games, YouTube videos, etc.) instead of primarily capturing your voice, even though it was working correctly until yesterday.
Before proceeding, could you please confirm:
- Does this happen in all applications (Discord, Zoom, Voice Recorder, games), or only in one specific app?
- Did Windows install any updates, audio driver updates, or new software shortly before the issue started?
In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
Option 1: Check the active recording device
- Right-click the speaker icon and select Sound settings
- Open More sound settings
- Select the Recording tab
- Make sure your headset microphone is set as the Default Device
Option 2: Disable audio enhancements
- In Sound settings, open your microphone properties
- Go to Enhancements or Advanced (if available)
- Disable all enhancements and test again
Option 3: Reinstall the audio driver
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers
- Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device
- Restart the PC and allow Windows to reinstall the driver
Option 4: Test with Voice Recorder
- Open the Voice Recorder app
- Record a short clip while a YouTube video is playing
- Check whether the recording contains only PC audio, only your voice, or both
Option 5: Run the audio troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter
I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
