Linked Excel Worksheet Objects in Word resize/distort unpredictably on "Update Link" (EnhancedMetaFile)

A Word document containing multiple linked Excel ranges (Paste Special → Paste Link → Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object, ProgID: Excel.Sheet.12, LinkType: EnhancedMetaFile, UpdateMode: Always) intermittently resizes/distorts one or more of the linked objects when the link is refreshed, causing the table to appear zoomed in, cropped, or stretched relative to its intended size. This happens even when the object's Format Object → Size scale is manually reset to 100%, and even when the source Excel sheet's zoom/print scaling is set to 100%. And also not working when different paste options are being used.

I can see that you are having issue with linked Excel worksheet in Word

Since the object still distorts after resetting its size to 100% and trying different paste formats, please first check whether the issue also occurs in a new blank Word document using a small range from a new Excel workbook. This helps determine whether the behavior is document specific.

Here are what you can try:

1. In Word, select File > Account > Update Options > Update Now to install the latest Office updates.
2. Open the Excel source workbook before opening the Word document, then update one link at a time.
3. If the issue continues, temporarily use Paste Special > Paste Link > Formatted Text (RTF), if available. This may preserve the linked table without relying on the Enhanced Metafile rendering used by the worksheet object.
4. As a stable workaround for final documents, paste the range as a picture and replace it when the Excel data changes. This will not update automatically, but it avoids resizing during link refresh.

Because the object is being regenerated incorrectly when the link updates, manually changing the scale may only correct the current display and may not prevent it from happening again.
