I own the domain thegreenery.ie. We’re paying for Microsoft 365 every month, but we’ve lost access to the Global Administrator account. The only user account (******@thegreenery.ie) signs in but has no Exchange licence, giving ‘OwaUserHasNoMailboxAndNoLicenseAssignedException’. Blacknight no longer manages the tenant. I need to recover Global Administrator access

Since you still own and control the thegreenery.ie domain, there is a good chance that Microsoft can help you recover administrative access to the tenant.

The first step is to determine whether any Global Administrator accounts still exist (including older *.onmicrosoft.com admin accounts that may have been forgotten). If no Global Administrator account is accessible, you should contact Microsoft Support and request a Global Administrator Recovery or Tenant Ownership Verification process.

Microsoft will typically ask you to prove ownership of the domain, often by adding a DNS record to thegreenery.ie. Once ownership is verified, they can work with you to regain administrative access to the tenant.

The Outlook error (OwaUserHasNoMailboxAndNoLicenseAssignedException) is likely unrelated to the administrator recovery issue—it simply indicates that the account you're signing in with does not have an Exchange Online license or mailbox assigned.

Before contacting Microsoft, gather the following if possible:

    • Confirmation that you control the DNS for thegreenery.ie
    • Any Microsoft 365 subscription or billing information
    • The tenant's onmicrosoft.com domain (if known)
    • Any old administrator usernames you may have used previously

If you can still sign in to a user account and confirm ownership of the domain, Microsoft Support should be able to guide you through the recovery process.
