Managing presence indicators such as Available, Busy, or Away to reflect user availability
Dear Aviva,
Good day, and thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum. As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account to diagnose and resolve this for you. Unfortunately, my role here is limited to providing general guidance and steps you can try from your side. From my research, a stuck "Available, Out of Office" status in Microsoft Teams is most often caused by Teams picking up an Out of Office (OOF) setting from Outlook or Exchange Online, even after the Teams status itself has been reset. To help narrow this down, could you provide a few more details?
- Do you currently have an automatic reply (Out of Office) configured in Outlook? You can check this in Outlook on the web: Settings > Account > Automatic replies. If it is on, please turn it off and then try setting your status again.
- Did you recently have an Out of Office message scheduled that has already ended?
- Are you using a Microsoft 365 work / school account, or a personal Microsoft account?
- When you click your profile picture in Teams, does it show "Available" or "Available, Out of Office"?
If possible, please also share a screenshot of your Teams profile showing the stuck status, along with your Outlook Automatic Replies settings page. Please remember to mask or obscure any sensitive information (such as your name, email address, or any message content) before uploading.
In the meantime, please try the following steps to see if they help:
1.Check your work hours in the Teams calendar
Go to Calendar > More options (...) > Calendar settings > Work hours and location, and set it to a full day (12:00 AM to 12:00 AM). Then try setting your status again.
2.Clear the Teams cache
- Clear the Teams cache
- Type settings in the Windows search box, then select the Settings app.
- Select Apps > Installed apps, then type Microsoft Teams in the search box.
- Locate the New Microsoft Teams app, select the More options (...) button on the right, then select Advanced options.
- In the Reset section, select Reset.
- Restart Teams.
