Hello @JT Schulte
I understand that you are using a German keyboard layout because it is the layout you are most comfortable typing with, but your PowerPoint content is primarily in English. The concern is that when PowerPoint suggests a word and you accept that suggestion, the proofing language appears to switch back to German.
This type of behavior can sometimes be related to how Office determines the proofing language for inserted text.
I will also share a few simple steps you can try to double‑check what might be happening on your end.
1/ Verify the proofing language of the presentation
This helps confirm that the slide content is configured for English.
- Open your presentation, press "Ctrl + A" while editing a text box to select all text in that text box.
- Go to the "Review" tab at the top of PowerPoint.
- Select "Language" and then "Set Proofing Language".
- Choose "English (United States)" or your preferred English variant.
- Make sure "Detect language automatically" is unchecked if it is currently enabled.
- Select "OK".
2/ Check Office authoring and proofing languages
This ensures Office prioritizes English for proofing tasks.
- Open PowerPoint.
- Select "File" in the top-left corner.
- Choose "Options" near the bottom of the left pane.
- Select "Language".
- Under the Office authoring languages section, confirm that your preferred English language is listed and enabled.
- If available, set English as the preferred language and move it to the top of the list.
- Select "OK" and restart PowerPoint.
If the issue still remains after trying all the steps above, please share a screenshot or provide more detailed information. I will check the situation and continue to support you.
