Hello @Rana Sabra,
Thank you for posting your question.
To help narrow down the root cause, could you please provide:
- Could you click the "12 other rows" link and provide a screenshot of the details? That page may identify the affected rows and columns. Also, if possible, please share:
- The column names from the Excel file
- The data type selected for each column in Microsoft Lists
- A sample of a few affected rows (with any sensitive information removed)
This will help determine which column contains data that does not match the detected column type.
Based on the error message shown in your screenshot, Microsoft Lists was able to import the file, but some rows were skipped because one or more values do not match the column type that Microsoft Lists assigned during the import process. The message specifically indicates:
"Some data couldn't be imported... because of data that doesn't match its column type."
This commonly happens when a column contains mixed data types, for example:
- Text values in a Number column
- Invalid or inconsistent Date values
- Choice values that don't match the available choices
- Blank cells mixed with numbers, dates, or other formats
- Hidden characters, extra spaces, or formulas returning unexpected results
Please try the steps below and let me know the result:
- Review the columns in the rows (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12 other rows) that were omitted and look for values that differ from the rest of the column.
- Check for text in numeric columns.
- Check for inconsistent date formats.
- Remove special characters, extra spaces, and formulas if possible.
- If creating a new Microsoft List from Excel, try forcing the affected columns to Single line of text during the import process. After the data imports successfully, you can change the column types later.
- Ensure the Excel data is formatted as a proper Excel Table (Ctrl+T) before importing.
- Check whether the workbook contains merged cells, hidden rows, hidden columns, or unusual formatting, and remove them if possible.
- If the file is not very large, try importing only a few columns at a time. This can help identify which column is causing the failure. Users have reported success by gradually adding columns until the problematic one is found.

In many cases, creating all columns as Single line of text first and then changing the column types after import can help identify the problematic field.
This information may help identify the specific column causing the import failure.
Thank you, and I look forward to your reply.
