Recording - no audio no video

I have the permission to record the sessions and I'm the organizer of sessions. For the sessions when I was away, I turned on the automatically record and transcribe function, so I didn't attend the meeting, but there are few people joined the meeting via Teams. The recording has no audio and video, could you please instruct me how could I fix this or does that mean I need to attend the meeting as organizer to record properly?

Good day Alexandra, and I appreciate the clear explanation of your concern.

Just to gently clarify before we go any further, this is a user‑to‑user support forum. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, do not have access to internal systems or the ability to directly take action on Microsoft product features. However, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.

The organizer doesn't need to be present for a Teams recording to work. However, the recording can only include content captured during the meeting, so if no audio, video, or shared content was recorded, the file may appear blank. This can also happen if only guest or anonymous users joined while no internal user was present.

Unfortunately, if the recording has already been processed without audio or video, Teams cannot recover the missing media content.

Please see the following workarounds that will help you verify the issue:

Option 1: Verify who joined the meeting

Please confirm whether at least one internal user from your organization joined the meeting.

Open the meeting attendance report from Teams.

    Review the participant list.

Confirm whether at least one participant from your organization joined during the meeting.

Check whether the attendees remained connected for the duration of the meeting.

Option 2: Verify the automatic recording setting

Please confirm that automatic recording was enabled for the specific meeting occurrence.

    Open Teams Calendar.

    Open the affected meeting.

    Select Meeting options.

Verify that Record and transcribe automatically was enabled.

If this was a recurring meeting, confirm that the setting was applied to the entire series and not only to a single occurrence.

Option 3: For future meetings when the organizer cannot attend

To reduce the likelihood of similar issues, consider the following approach:

Ensure at least one internal user joins the meeting.

Assign a co-organizer or presenter from your organization when appropriate.

Ask participants to confirm that recording has started after joining.

Have participants briefly unmute and speak at the beginning of the meeting.

If visual content is important, ask participants to turn on their camera or share content during the session.

These checks can help confirm that meeting content is actively being captured.

    Option 4: Contact Microsoft Support

If the issue still persists after trying the steps above, I recommend reaching out to your IT administrator to create a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & Support for further backend investigation. In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.

If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
