Hi Ron Brown
Please reply with these details so the issue can be narrowed down:
- Do the spam items appear in Outlook.com on the web, or only in a specific app/device?
- Do you see an unfamiliar group under Outlook.com Groups?
- Is there a related invitation email in Junk Email, Deleted Items, or Search?
- Can you delete the event from Outlook.com Calendar, or does it return immediately?
- Are you using a personal Outlook.com/Hotmail account or a work/school Microsoft 365 mailbox?
Also follow these steps:
1) Do not accept or decline the spam invite
Avoid using Accept, Tentative, or Decline on suspicious calendar invitations. Instead, remove or report the related message where available. Choose Report > Report phishing.
2) Check whether you were added to an unwanted Outlook Group
Because the sender shows @groups.outlook.com, check the Groups section in Outlook.com:
- Go to Outlook.com.
- Open Groups from the left pane.
- Look for any group you do not recognize.
- If you find one, open the group, go to Group Settings, and choose Leave Group.
3) Create a rule to move or delete meeting-invitation spam
If the spam is arriving as a meeting invitation email, create a rule in Outlook.com:
- Go to Outlook.com.
- Select Settings > Mail > Rules.
- Select Add new rule.
- Use a condition such as the sender/domain, subject words, or other details that match the spam invitation.
- Set the action to Move to Junk Email or Delete.
- Save the rule.
4) Turn off automatic “Events from email”
This may not stop every meeting invitation, but it can help prevent Outlook.com from automatically creating calendar items from supported email content.
- In Outlook.com, select Settings.
- Go to Calendar > Events from email.
- For each event type, choose Don’t show event summaries in email or on my calendar.
- Save the change.
5) Keep the domain blocked, but enter it in the correct format
Since you already tried blocking the sender/domain, re-check the entry in Outlook.com:
- Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email.
- Under Blocked senders and domains, add only the domain name when blocking a domain, for example: groups.outlook.com.
- Do not include extra symbols such as <, >, or display names.
- Select OK, then Save.
6) Report the related email as junk or phishing
If you can find the related invitation email in Inbox, Junk Email, Deleted Items, or through Search:
- Select the message.
- Choose Report.
- Select Junk or Phishing.
- Then delete the message.
