A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
This usually means Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication has temporarily blocked more attempts after repeated sign-in activity, even if the credentials are now correct.
Recommended steps:
- Stop repeated sign-in attempts. Repeated attempts can extend the block.
- Try a different MFA method. If another verification option is available, select Other verification options and use a different method.
- Verify the method details.
- If using a phone call, respond by pressing #.
- If using text, enter the verification code exactly.
- Make sure the phone numbers in the account security settings are correct.
- Wait before trying again. A temporary block can require waiting at least 24 hours, and in some cases longer. Guidance in Microsoft support content says to wait as long as possible up to 1 week if the block does not clear after 24 hours.
- Try a different network. Switch between Wi‑Fi and cellular, or use another Wi‑Fi network.
- If access to the registered phone or email is no longer available, select I don't have any of these during sign-in and follow the prompts to update security info.
- If the issue continues, ask an IT administrator to check the Microsoft Entra sign-in logs.
If this is a work or school account and multiple attempts have already been made, the supported path is to wait, use another MFA method if available, and have the IT admin investigate sign-in logs for unusual activity or MFA misconfiguration.
