Hi Tina Newbrooks,
If the BitLocker recovery key is accepted but the device continues returning to the recovery screen, the issue may be related to the Windows startup process, boot configuration, or recent firmware changes rather than the recovery key itself.
You can try the following:
- Check for recent BIOS/UEFI changes - if the BIOS was recently updated or settings such as TPM, Secure Boot, or Boot Mode were changed, restore the previous settings and restart the device.
- Run Startup Repair - boot into the Windows Recovery Environment and select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Check the drive for errors
- From Command Prompt in the recovery environment, run:
chkdsk C: /f - Replace C: with the correct Windows drive letter if necessary.
- From Command Prompt in the recovery environment, run:
If the drive can be accessed after unlocking with the recovery key, consider backing up important data before performing additional repairs.
If the recovery key is consistently accepted but Windows still does not start normally, it may indicate an issue with the boot configuration or system files rather than the BitLocker key itself.
I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
