I’m messaging my colleague and he is not getting my messages. I’m getting his messages fine, but he does not see my responses.

    Hi Chuck

Sorry you’re going through this, and I appreciate you sharing what happened.

As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account or review the backend systems to diagnose and resolve this issue for you. However, our role here is limited to providing general guidance by offering clear next steps, sharing applicable resources, and directing you to the appropriate support channels so you can work with the right team to investigate further.

Based on your description, it sounds like Microsoft Teams is experiencing a one-way message delivery issue. This can sometimes happen due to a Teams client sync issue, cached data, a sign-in/session problem, network/VPN interference, or a policy/service-side issue.

To assist you more effectively, could you please provide some additional details?

    • Does this happen with only one colleague or multiple users?
    • Do your messages show as sent, failed, or retrying?
    • Does your colleague see the message on Teams web or mobile?
    • Are you both in the same organization, or is this an external chat?

In the meantime, here are some steps you can try:

1/ Check Teams on the web

    • Go to: https://teams.microsoft.com/v2/
    • Sign in and try sending a simple test message to the same colleague.
    • If the message works in Teams web, the issue is likely related to the Teams desktop app.

2/ Sign out and sign back in

    • In Teams, click your profile picture.
    • Select Sign out.
    • Fully close Teams, then reopen it and sign back in.

3/ Restart or reset the Teams desktop app

    • Fully quit Teams from the system tray.
    • Reopen Teams and test again.
    • If the issue continues, please reset the Teams app from Windows Settings:
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps
      • Search for Microsoft Teams
      • Select Advanced options
      • Click Reset
      • Restart Teams and test again.

4/ Test from another device or network

    • If possible, please try sending the message from Teams mobile or another computer.
    • Or if you are connected to VPN, please disconnect temporarily and test again.
    • You can also try connecting to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to check whether the issue is related to the current network connection.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
