Unable to access hotmail

Hi all,

I am unable to sign into my hotmail account as it has locked me out due to suspicious activity. I live in China and unfortunately lost access to the original email account to verify my account as well as the phone number in the UK. What is frustrating is that I have used the microsoft self help tool that has services and passwords, emails and xbox account and I get no response. There is no chatbot or customer service for this. I am really unimpressed but also have no options for a service that links to all my purchase accounts such as amazon. This is poor. Any ideas?
Thanks!

    Hi David Edwards

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this frustrating situation, especially since the Hotmail account is linked to purchases and other important services.

If Microsoft asks for a phone number to send an unlocking code, you can use any phone number that can receive SMS messages. It does not need to be your previous UK number or a number already associated with the account. You may use the phone number of a trusted friend or family member.

If the sign-in page does not display the Next option, select the link beginning with aka.ms/ shown on the locked-account screen and complete the account reinstatement form. Microsoft account has been locked

If the steps above do not work, you can also visit Contact Microsoft Support.

    • Click Show expanded list of products
    • Select Outlook > Get Home support
    • Type Outlook live chat in the search box, then select Get Help > Contact Support
    • If you can’t sign in to the affected account, sign in with a different Microsoft account to access support options
    • Under Products & Services, select Other Products > Outlook, then choose Chat with a support agent via web browser
