AI-500 prerequisites

Hi!

I am going through the learning path of AI-500 and saw that you need to have AI-103 in order to take AI-500. Is there any issues if I have AI-102, the retired version of AI-103? Do I need to refocus and do AI-103 also before 500?

Thanks.

AI-500 does not show a required prerequisite exam in the provided material. The AI-500 study guide describes the expected audience profile and recommended experience, but it does not state that AI-103 is mandatory before taking AI-500.

What the provided material does show:

    1. AI-500 is an expert-level certification for designing and implementing multi-agent AI solutions.
    2. It expects experience with AI and machine learning, production agentic systems, Microsoft Foundry, Python, and Azure services.
    3. AI-103 is the replacement for AI-102.
    4. If planning around the current certification path, AI-103 is the active exam to focus on rather than AI-102.

Based on the provided information, having AI-102 does not appear to be described as a formal blocker for taking AI-500. However, the material does not confirm any equivalency rule between AI-102 and AI-103 for AI-500 prerequisites.

You can take the AI-500 exam without having passed the AI-103 exam except you will not earn the certification. You need both AI-103 and AI-500 exams for the expert level certification. The order you take the exams does not matter.

The AI-102 exam and certification are retired and do not qualify for the new certification
