When I am attaching a video file, the Video does not attach. Audio is the only thing I see and hear. The original export does have video.

Thank you for your assistance. Tracy

    Hi,

Since the original exported file contains both video and audio, it sounds like the video may still be present in the file and that the issue could be related to how the attachment is being previewed or played after it's attached, rather than Outlook removing the video itself.

To help narrow this down, I'd suggest trying the following:

1/ Confirm whether the attachment itself is intact:

First, try sending the video to yourself as a test.

    After receiving the email:

    • Download and save the attachment to your computer.
    • Open the saved file directly using a media player such as Windows Media Player, Movies & TV, or VLC.

If the downloaded file plays normally with both video and audio, then the attachment was sent successfully, and the issue is more likely related to the Outlook preview or playback experience rather than the file itself.

    2/ Check the video format:

Another possibility is that the audio format is supported, while the video codec is not fully supported by the application being used to preview the file.

If possible, try re-exporting or converting the video to:

    • MP4 format
    • H.264 video codec
    • AAC audio codec

These formats are widely supported and can help eliminate compatibility issues.

3/ Consider sharing the video through OneDrive:

In addition, if the video file is relatively large, you may find it works better when uploaded to OneDrive and shared via a link rather than sent as a traditional email attachment.

Not only can this help avoid attachment size limitations, but it can also reduce potential upload and playback issues. In some cases, supported video links may even appear directly within the email experience for recipients.

    4/ Verify sharing permissions:

If you're already using OneDrive or SharePoint, it's worth checking that the recipients have permission to access the file. Otherwise, the video may not be available to them even though the link was successfully shared.

5/ Test with another Outlook version:

Finally, if you have access to another Outlook experience, such as Outlook on the web or classic Outlook for Windows, it may be helpful to test the same file there as well.

Doing so can help identify whether the behavior is specific to New Outlook for Windows.

I hope this information helps improve the situation. If the issue continues, It'd be helpful if you share a few additional details:

    • What is the video file type (.mp4, .mov, .wmv, etc.)?
    • Approximately how large is the file?
    • Does the issue occur before sending, after sending, or only when previewing the attachment?
    • When you download the attachment from the email, do you still get audio only?
    • Does the original file play correctly outside of Outlook?

Once I have those details, I'll be happy to help look into this further.

I'm looking forward to your response.
