OneDrive icons not showing "always keep on this device."

Some folders on OneDrive show status as white circle with green checkmark even though they are set to "always keep on this device." It can sit that way overnight so it's not like I am not waiting long enough.

This can happen if OneDrive is not running or File Explorer is not showing the sync status icons.
Please check the taskbar near the clock for the OneDrive cloud icon. If it is missing, open "Start," search for
OneDrive, and open it.Also, please confirm:
- Is the OneDrive cloud icon visible, and does it say “Up to date”?
- Are the checkmarks missing from all OneDrive folders or only one folder?
- Press
Windows + R, typewinver, and tell me the Windows version and OS build shown.

2026-07-29T16:59:01.3633333+00:00 John, thanks for the reply, but I have changed the content of my question. I resolved my original question (no status indicators on icons) by deleting the icon cache.
Now I have the status indicators but some of them are wrong. See my updated question. The OneDrive App icon is visible on the task bar but It does not say "up to date." Instead, it says "backed up and synced."

For the incorrect status icons, please confirm:
- Which icon is showing, and which icon should appear instead?
- When you right-click an affected file or folder, is “Always keep on this device” missing, or does selecting it not change the icon?
- Is this happening with all OneDrive files or only certain files and folders?
- Press
Windows + R, typewinver, and share the Windows version and OS build shown.
A screenshot of one affected file and its right-click menu would also help.

Answers:
- Showing white circle green check mark. Should be green circle white check.
- "Always keep" is checked.
- Only a very few folders. No files, but one shortcut.
