I was guide by AI your AI to instal the app of 365 office because I have an old operating system Big Sur on my mac. Not compatible.

I was told it would be easier to go the APP route rather than upgrading my Big Sur operating system. Didn't work.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, installing Microsoft 365 through the Mac App Store does not bypass the macOS requirement. macOS Big Sur 11 is no longer supported by the current Microsoft 365 desktop applications.

Microsoft now supports macOS Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15, and Tahoe 26. Additionally, a July 2026 licensing update requires at least macOS Monterey 12. The last Office version compatible with Big Sur was 16.77, but it cannot receive the required current licensing and security updates.
