Problem: After a Microsoft Windows update, I was having problems with syncronization between my Outlook calendar and my Apple (IOS) calendar. Microsoft tech support recommended uninstalling and reinstalling iCloud for Window which was done without error. My problem now is that all of the toggle switches in the main iCloud for Windows screen are 'Off' and when I try to toggle any of them 'On', they immediately switch back to 'Off.' Any thoughts, recommendations?

Part 2 -- iCloud Only Profile

If Part 1 didn't fix things, then this test will help determine if the problem is your Outlook Software/Profile or the iCloud for Windows software setup on your PC.

You will be creating a new Outlook Profile and populating it with only your iCloud account. This is just a test. Once we know if iCloud works OK in this new profile then we can go back and see if we can find the problem with your existing profile.

Do the whole-nine-yards starting with Step 1.

iCloud for Windows is old and finicky. Have not seen your exact problem so I don't have a "fix" just some general suggestions. I will answer in two parts.

    Part 1 -- iCloud Sign-On/Sing-In

This is drawn from a similar case I am working at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5934561/synching-between-outlook-2024-and-my-iphone-for-mo .

Please tell me at which step what you see if different that what I show.

1 -- Open iCloud for Windows by double-clicking the icon on your Desktop, or use the Windows Start menu and look for iCloud

2 -- On the iCloud main screen, click [Account Details]

    User's image

3 -- On the Account Details dialog, click [Sign-In], or [Sign Out] if you are currently signed in. (You MUST go thru the Account Sign-In process even if you are currently signed in).

    User's image

4 -- Complete your Apple iCloud sign-in using the normal Apple process for your account. The exact steps will depend on how you authenticate your Apple account (password, code sent to an Apple Device, text code to your phone, etc._

    User's image

5 -- After your Apple Sign-In is complete, you should see a series of screens asking you which iCloud features you want to enable. e.g.

    User's image

6 -- Click [Not Now] for all of them except the last one "Sync Calendars and Contacts". On that one click "Sync Calendars and Contacts".

    User's image

7 -- And then [Finish Setup]

    User's image

8 -- You should see a series of "Outlook Setup for iCloud" progress screens and then a "Setup is complete" screen. Click [Done].

    User's image

9 -- You should be back on the iCloud for Windows main screen with the "Calendar and Contacts" switch "On" and the text "Updated just now" below the Calendar icon.

    Hi Mark Bennett,

I understand that all switches in iCloud for Windows immediately return to Off after reinstalling the app, preventing your Outlook calendar from synchronizing. Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot inspect the iCloud installation or Apple Account directly.

Because this affects every switch in iCloud for Windows, please try the following before changing anything in Outlook:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, locate iCloud, select the three dots, and choose Advanced options.
    3. Select Repair first, as this should not affect the app’s data. If the switches still return to Off, confirm that your calendars, contacts, photos, and other iCloud data are available on iCloud.com. You may then select Reset. Resetting iCloud for Windows removes the app’s local settings, so you will need to sign in and configure its features again afterward.
    4. Open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates and install any available iCloud update.
    5. Confirm that iCloud is signed in with the same Apple Account used on the iPhone, then try enabling Calendars and Contacts again.

Apple’s setup guidance is available here: Set up iCloud Calendars and Contacts in Outlook. (Disclaimer: This is a non-Microsoft website. If the switches still turn themselves off before Outlook is opened, the problem remains within iCloud for Windows. In that situation, please contact Apple Support and mention that all iCloud feature switches immediately revert to Off after a clean reinstall.

I hope the repair or reset allows the iCloud settings to remain enabled.
