Azure wants 6 digits code but Authenticator generates 8 digits

I'm trying to login into my Azure account but it wants a 6-digit code from Microsoft Authenticator but Authenticator generates a 8-digit code.

I tried to remove my account from Authenticator, remove and create password, turn on and off 2-factor authentication but nothing worked. I still can't login to Azure.

I can login everywhere else like Outlook, Microsoft 365 Copilot but not Azure.

I want to create a support ticket but even for that it wants me to login to Azure but I can't.

What am I going to do?

Azure is a business account, while I believe you are on personal account when you referred to your Msft 365, Outlook, and Copilot. Two completely different account types and from two different ecosystems.

Six digits code is for business account, and 8 digits code is for personal account.

It sounds like your Azure account's verification was never added to the app. Sounds like all you have on your app is for the personal account. You can re-add your personal account and change its security settings as much as you want, it will not do anything to help the Azure account, because Azure is business account and is from a different ecosystem.

Regarding this Azure account, is it from a tenant you created yourself, or a tenant you were invited to?

The authenicator device must be registered for each website. Old accounts used 6 digits, but newer accounts use 8. This means the device is not registered for your azure account, it’s a new account. If you have an alternate MFA method for azure, click signin on account, and pick alternate method or forgot password flow.

Note: if you are the tenant owner, you can open a ticket to reset your account. To open the ticket, you will need to create an alternate azure account.
