Hi, G NAGABHUSHANAM
This warning means the file is named new.xls, but its internal format is different, or the workbook is damaged. Continuing to edit the mismatched file can prevent changes from being saved correctly.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Do not overwrite the original file. Open it only if you trust where it came from.
Immediately select File > Save As.
Enter a different name, such as new_repaired.xlsx.
Under Save as type, choose Excel Workbook (*.xlsx), then save it to a local folder such as Documents. Do not simply rename .xls to .xlsx, because that does not convert the actual file format. Saving through Excel converts it properly.
Close Excel, reopen the new .xlsx file, enter a small test value, save, and reopen it again.
If the current data is already missing, open Excel first, then select File > Open > Browse. Select the original file, choose the arrow beside Open, then select Open and Repair. Choose Repair first.
If the file is stored in OneDrive, right-select it and check Version history to restore an earlier copy containing the lost data.
Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
