Does Artifact Signing / AU10TIX support an older French national identity card without NFC?

We would like an authoritative clarification about document compatibility in the Azure Artifact Signing Public organization identity-validation process.

The legal representative of a French company used a valid older French national identity card issued before the current credit-card-format CNI. This older card has no NFC chip. AU10TIX accepted photographs of the document and the selfie/liveness step. The Artifact Signing backend then reported:

• VC_Ind: Pass
• first-name match: Pass
• last-name match: Pass

The overall organization validation later failed only at EV (email verification). Based on those results, the older non-NFC identity card appears to have been accepted in this particular request.

For future requests and for a clear record, could Microsoft or an Artifact Signing moderator confirm:

1. Is a valid older French national identity card without an NFC chip officially supported by the AU10TIX / Microsoft Verified ID flow used by Artifact Signing?
2. Is NFC reading ever mandatory for a French identity card, or can the process rely entirely on document images plus selfie/liveness checks?
3. When VC_Ind and the representative name checks are already marked Pass, does that conclusively mean the identity document stage succeeded and that a later EV failure is unrelated to the card?
4. Is there an official list of supported French identity-document versions for this flow?

We are not including any identity-document images, validation IDs, or other private identifiers in this public question.
