CLAIFY TRANSFER OF MICROSOFT 365

Question

I have an annual subscription to Microsoft 365 home office. I purchased a new computer. I see some information stating just log into Microsoft on new computer and install it and some stating I must first delete it from my old computer before installing it on my new computer. Two questions.

1. Do I delete it from my old computer first or install it on my new computer first?
2. If I delete it from my old computer first will I lose all my data files?
3. How do I transfer all my saved data files from my old computer to my new computer, or will that happen automatically when I install office 365 on my new computer?

the personal 365 license lets you have 5 activated devices total (phone, pc, Mac tablet). to activate a 6th, you need to deactivate one of the device (managed under the website). your one drive files will transfer once you install one drive on the new computer.

The best option is to uninstall Office from your old PC if you will no longer be using that PC.

If you will still be using the old PC, if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, not a standalone version of Office, you can install and use Office on up to 5 devices at the same time.

If you use OneDrive to sync your files online, then if you log into Windows and Office on the new PC with the exact same Microsoft account, OneDrive should automatically sync your files down to the new PC.

If you do not use OneDrive to sync your files, you will need to manually transfer your files form the old PC to the new PC using a USB flash drive.

When you first activated Office that licence becomes associated to your Microsoft Account as a digital licence online and it is from there that you can install Office on the new PC without the need for a product key:
