A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Hi Katherine,
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your concern.
Since your OneNote was saved to your educational OneDrive and external sharing is not allowed for your organization, I recommend first bringing the note down to your local device, confirming the sync is healthy, and then moving it into your OneDrive for personal account.
To do this, please follow the steps below (The following guidance is for Windows devices. If you are using a different device, please let me know):
- Confirm both accounts are signed in
- Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area (bottom right of the taskbar).
- Select the gear icon, then Settings > Account.
- Make sure both your personal OneDrive and your OneDrive for Education accounts are listed and signed in. If the education account is missing, select Add an account and sign in with your Microsoft 365 credentials.
- Download the notebook from your educational OneDrive to the computer
- Open File Explorer and select your education OneDrive folder.
- Right-click the top-level folder, then select Always keep on this device.
- Wait until every file shows a solid green circle with a white check mark, which confirms the file is fully downloaded and no longer online-only.
- Move the files to your personal OneDrive
- In File Explorer, open your personal OneDrive folder on one side and your OneDrive for Education folder on the other.
- Select the notebook to transfer, then drag them (or cut and paste) into the OneDrive for Education folder.
- Wait for the files to finish uploading to the personal account, shown by the green check mark, before removing anything from the education account.
I hope this information is helpful. Please follow the steps above and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can continue working together to resolve the issue.
