Are there any upgrades to Word that will help with rearranging pages as needed? Can word save a page as a jpg yet?

I need to be able to link a text box on page 1 of a newsletter to a text box on p5 so that text flows between oddly spaced pages?? Word and Powerpoint cannot do this.

These are major reasons why publisher should be kept. Powerpoint and Word just don't work as well. Please escalate this to a human manager. Please keep Publisher

Unfortunately, no. Word very much remains a word processor although it has some page layout software features. The closest equivalent to rearranging pages is really to cut and paste the relevant content.

It is possible to link text boxes in Word. (There is a limit to the number of such links in one and the same document, though.) The steps include clicking in the first text box, then click the Create Link option on the ribbon, and then clicking in the "target" text box. See the screen shot below.

Thanks, it's hard to tell they are linked without the customary arrows, but that helps a little.

Saving pages as a jpg and being able to rearrange page layout would be huge. Please still escalate to a human manager. Please keep publisher.

Regarding Publisher, I suspect that you will have to look for replacement software, though. Affinity seems to have a good reputation (I haven't used it much myself, except for basic testing).

I wasn't referring to Affinity Publisher. There is another app called Affinity by Canva, which can be installed locally on a PC (or Mac). See https://www.affinity.studio/ (third-party link).

Obviously I wouldn't suggest another discontinued app as a potential replacement for Microsoft Publisher.

Thanks but that version of Canva still doesn't solve newsletter and bulletin issues, it's more for social media. I have been trying numerous options since last year. Apache, Tungsten, Canva, Powerpoint and Word. None compare to Publisher!!

You can always install the desktop version from https://www.canva.com/help/install-affinity/ and try it. The app supports typography options, linked text boxes, etc. It appears quite capable, much like Publisher and possibly even beyond. Ultimately, the decision is yours, of course. Maybe you prefer the established category of page layout suites such as InDesign or Quark.
