When I click on a new site, it takes a long time to load or says the site is not operational.

    Welcome Mark Thomas,

I understand how frustrating it can be when websites are taking a long time to load or sometimes report that they are not operational when you try to open them.

    Before proceeding, could you clarify:

    • Does this happen in all web browsers or only in one browser?
    • Are all websites affected, or only certain websites?

In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Restart your network connection

    • Restart the modem/router
    • Restart your PC

Option 2: Disable VPN, proxy, or browser extensions temporarily

    • Turn off any VPN or proxy connection
    • Disable extensions and test website loading

Option 3: Run the Network Troubleshooter

    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
    • Run Internet Connections and Network Adapter troubleshooters

    Option 4: Reset network settings

    • Go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset
    • Restart the PC after the reset completes

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.

    Hi.

How do you connect, via LAN or WiFi? Is the problem present in both cases? Are you able to access those sites properly using another device?

Specify the exact computer model or motherboard model, or go to Start, type msinfo in the search box, and attach a screenshot of the System Information page.

Right-click the Start button > Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, and post a screenshot.
