Microsoft 365 locked me out of my other computer

Since purchasing Microsoft 365 Personal I have questions as I am not a "techi". Tried signing into our other computer we use daily, the message said I had to change the password. Back to the other computer and managed to do that. Returned to our other desktop, did a restart, and to sign in it asked for the Microsoft 365 password - wrong password, again and again. We always signed in another way to unlock the screen. 8 Days and still locked out of the other desktop. Unbelievable.

    Hi @Tim Evans

It sounds like your Microsoft account password changed successfully, but the other computer is still using the old credentials.

    A few things to try:

    • Confirm you're using the Microsoft account password, not the previous Windows PIN or local account password.
    • On the locked computer, select Sign-in options (if available) and try another sign-in method, such as your PIN or password.
    • If the PC is connected to the internet, leave it on for a few minutes and then try signing in again so it can sync the new password.
    • If you're using a Microsoft account and the password is correct but it still won't accept it, restart the PC and ensure it's connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet before signing in.

If none of those work, could you let us know:

    • Is this a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC?
    • Are you signing in with a Microsoft account (email address) or a local account?
    • Do you normally use a PIN, password, or fingerprint to sign in?

That information will help narrow down the cause.
