Hello, I would like to know how to remove or increase the limits on Outlook.com, such as:

daily sending limits
receiving limits
storage limits
attachment size limits

My account is used for legitimate personal and work communication, but I am encountering restrictions that stop me from sending or receiving normally. Could you please explain:

what limits Outlook.com applies,

how to increase them,

whether verification or account upgrades can remove these restrictions?

I understand that Outlook.com restrictions are affecting your normal personal and work communication. Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot change limits applied to an individual account.

The current Outlook.com limits work as follows:

Sending: For Microsoft 365 subscribers, the documented limits are 5,000 recipients per day, 500 recipients per message, and 1,000 new or “non-relationship” recipients per day. Limits can vary according to account usage history and are lower for non-subscribers. New accounts may also have temporarily lower limits. These safeguards cannot be manually removed.
Receiving: The consumer documentation does not specify a fixed daily receiving number. However, Outlook.com cannot receive new messages if either the mailbox storage or Microsoft cloud storage is over its allowance. Messages received while over quota are returned to the sender.
Storage: A free account includes 15 GB of Outlook.com email storage and 5 GB of Microsoft cloud storage, which includes OneDrive files and Outlook.com attachments. A paid Microsoft 365 subscription increases the Outlook.com mailbox to 100 GB.
Attachments: A directly attached file can be up to 25 MB. For larger files, upload the file to OneDrive and share its link; the documented OneDrive file attachment limit is 2 GB.

Verification and maintaining complete security information can help an account build sending credibility, but verification does not remove all service safeguards. I understand perfectly that, since this is a user‑to‑user forum, you cannot manually increase Outlook.com limits. However, my question was different: I was not asking to raise the limits, but rather to understand how to remove the block that was triggered after sending only 10 emails, which is far below the documented thresholds and should not happen under normal conditions.

Additionally, we have around 70 Outlook accounts configured via SMTP on our server, and only 2 of them are unable to send emails. We have already carried out a full check with the technician responsible for the server hosting the email, and everything is correctly configured, with no errors, no misconfigurations, and no authentication issues.

If I could resolve this abnormal block affecting these two accounts, I would not need to proceed with any further changes or migration related to Outlook. The issue is simply understanding why these two addresses are being blocked after such a small number of sent messages, despite having the exact same configuration as the other 68 accounts that work normally.

Outlook.com states that sending limits may vary based on each account’s usage history. Therefore, accounts using the same SMTP configuration may not necessarily have the same sending availability. Since the server configuration and authentication have already been checked, the affected accounts should be reviewed individually by Outlook.com support.

Before contacting support, please obtain the complete SMTP response code and message recorded when sending is restricted. This is important because it identifies the type of restriction being returned and gives support specific information to investigate.

To contact Outlook.com support:

Go to Outlook.com and sign in.

Select the Help icon, the question mark, in the upper-right corner.

In the Help pane that opens, search for "email management", then press Enter.

Scroll down the page until you see "Still need help?", click Yes.

Choose "Chat with a support agent in your web browser."

Review the issue description and confirm an email address you can access.

Click Confirm to create the service request. The screen will indicate that your request has been submitted and the system is connecting you to Outlook.com live chat support, which may take a moment to load.
