Touchpad not responding on windows 11.

Laptop: Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9
OS: Windows 11 24H2

Problem: After shutting down and powering on the laptop, the touchpad stops working. Device manager shows:
-I2C Device: Code 45 (device not connected)
-HID compliant touch pad: code 45

The AMD I2C Controller and AMD SMBus remain working.
The touchpad does work in BIOS.

Already tried:
-Removing/reinstalling I2C HID device
-Restarting windows
-Entering safe mode
-Using SFC /scannow -> no integrity violations
-Using DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth -> completed successfully

The issue returns after shutdown.
BIOS: Lenovo PQCN30WW (11-May-26)

Also, it worked originally with BIOS PQCN25WW and gradually started failing.

Absolutely, it is safe to downgrade. With certain OEMs it is a very common practice and downgrading is possible from the BIOS itself.

Hi EHU,

The message simply means there is a connection issue between the motherboard and the touchpad device. I don't think it correlates with any BIOS update; it might be a coincidence.

If you restart your computer by powering down and then powering up, does it work?

Considering your BIOS assumption, have you asked Lenovo if you can downgrade BIOS versions?

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, restarting after a full shutdown does not solve the problem. Every time I shut the laptop down and power it back on, the touchpad disappears again with Code 45. The AMD I2C Controller continues to work normally, but the I2C HID Device and HID-compliant touchpad are missing.

I also tested rolling back an AMD GPIO driver, but the issue remained.

I have not yet contacted Lenovo regarding a BIOS rollback, but I can ask whether my current BIOS version (PQCN30WW) can be safely downgraded for testing.
