I will no longer have an email with Spectrum in a few weeks but all of my OneDrive files and subscription is with that email account username. I have another inactive OneDrive Account with a gmail account that I would like to transfer the files to and renew that subscription. Can this be done?

If you would prefer to receive your mail at outlook.com, you can remove the Spectrum email as an alias of your Microsoft account. Just because your Spectrum mailbox is closing doesn't mean your existing Microsoft account is also closing.

    Hi, @Tim Burneka

Yes, but the two Microsoft accounts cannot be merged, and the Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be transferred between them.

The simplest option may be to keep the current Microsoft account. Before the Spectrum email closes, add a new email alias and make it the primary sign-in. Also update the recovery email and phone number. This keeps the existing OneDrive files and subscription under the same account.

If you prefer to use the separate Gmail Microsoft account, you will need to copy the files between the two OneDrive folders using File Explorer. You can then turn off recurring billing on the old account and purchase a new subscription using the Gmail account.

    1. Can you still sign in to the Microsoft account using the Spectrum email?
    2. Does the subscription appear at https://account.microsoft.com/services?
    3. Is the Gmail address already the username for a separate Microsoft account? Thanks!
