Update Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2...can it be done?

My current Windows 11 is version 23H2. I use Adobe Premiere. The latest version of Premiere (26.3) is telling me that my version of Windows is incompatible, and that I need version 24H2. My Windows Update screen tells me that my Windows 11 is up to date. I contacted Microsoft Chat Support, and they were clueless. Can ANYONE tell me how to get my stupid Windows 11 to detect the existence of the 24H2 update???

You can upgrade manually using one of two Microsoft-supported methods. The Windows 11 Installation Assistant provides a guided automated upgrade and the ISO file method performs an in-place upgrade using installation media.

The Windows 11 Installation Assistant is a download from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 You run the tool, accept the license terms, and verify that your device meets the requirements for Windows 11 24H2. The tool then downloads the required files, performs the upgrade automatically, and prompts you to restart when the installation is ready. Your applications, files, and settings are preserved.

The ISO file method gives you more control over the upgrade process. Download the official Windows 11 24H2 ISO from Microsoft's Software Download page, then double-click the ISO to mount it as a virtual DVD drive in File Explorer. Open the mounted drive and run setup.exe. Choose to keep your personal files and apps when prompted, and the installer performs an in-place upgrade to 24H2 while preserving your data, installed applications, and most settings. This method is also useful if the Installation Assistant does not work or if you want to reuse the ISO on multiple PCs.

Thanks Marcin, but after trying those two methods, I got nowhere. The download assistant told me that my computer is not compatible for Windows 11, which obvisously is incorrect, because I'm currently running Windows 11 23H2.

The ISO method was also no help because when I tried downloading it, it told me an error occurred and to try again later. Which probably means it will probably never work, period.

OK, sorry, I guess I was mistaken about the USB media creation tool option, as at first I thought that simply was used for making a backup of my current version of Windows. But after clicking on that option on the Microsoft Download Windows 11 page (at least that option didn't error out on me), it looks like it's actually DOWNLOADING Windows, so hopefully that IS the 24H2 or 25H2 that I need. I'll keep you posted!

Well, the USB method failed. I'm getting the same error message that my computer is incompatible with Windows 11 because it doesn't support TPM 2.0. I checked my BIOS setttings earlier today and I couldn't find anything in there about TPM. So I guess it means that the the Windows 11 I've been using for two years IS compatible with my PC, but that 24H2 and 25H2 is not. Correct? Great. Now I have to build a new PC for a damned Windows update??

It's possible to install Windows 11 to unsupported devices and those get monthly Cumulative Updates, but those devices doesn't get feature updates to later versions 24H2 or 25H2.

Ramesh, thanks, I have made some progress...my TPM was not set correctly, so Windows was not detecting it. I enabled it in my BIOS, and so I am trying to install 25H2 now from the downloaded media creation tool on a USB flash drive, and it detects TPM OK now, but after hanging on 46% complete while "Getting Updates" for about 20 minutes, it gave me crap about my NVMe disk, which I really need because I edit videos. It says that it "isn't ready for this version of Windows." Why???

Some Western Digital SSDs are affected by the issue.

Thanks, Ramesh...yes, I had the NVMe at the top of your list (WD Blue SN580), and Co-pilot clued me in on the firmware issue the day before your post, so all is good now...running 25H2 as we speak...thanks for your help!
