when starting MS Edge, the above problem pops up:

User's image

I installed Malwarebytes, the scan identified 6 issues including brightpathatlas. MWB fixed it, but the problem persists after rebooting. I checked regedit. Brightpathatlas was not listed.

What else can I do? When I open a second tab with ie. Yahoo it is not blocked

I am sorry that the steps did not resolve the issue. Please follow these next steps;

Right-click your Edge shortcut (desktop, taskbar, Start menu) → Properties → Target.

It should look exactly like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe"

If there's anything after that (like ...msedge.exe" https://brightpathatlas.com or similar), delete everything after the closing quote.

Do this for all shortcuts you use to launch Edge — desktop, taskbar pin, Start menu tile, and any in the Startup folder.

Hi! Let me help you.

Open Edge and copy and paste this into the address bar: edge://settings/privacy/services/search/searchEngines

Please remove Brightpathatlas from the list of search engines.
