ISO Upgrade in place (with internet access off and selecting no updates during install) fails:

Since on August 13 build 29617 will loose its certificate - how to upgrade?

All published diagnostics steps were carried on - no effect.

Build 26300 is a Dev build. At this point I would stay

on that build and avoid Canary until more bugs

are worked out.

Completely rebuild SoftwareDistribution

then use again

29617 is only Bootable install.

I can try to boot from 29634 with formatting HD - I am preparing 29634 image on usb; I need to figure out how to boot tablet from USB when keyboard is external USB ...

It's Asus Zenbook Fold.

In one of my previous posts I pasted snip from Update history - all visible there Insights build were successful up to 29619. Only update 29619 -> 29634 (and now 29639) started to fail in weird way.

I tried setup from 29634 on USB drive - choosing not to install updates and not to keep anything hoping that this will force reformatting HDD - no luck - setup reverted install with the familiar message:

Hi,

Sorry you are having such issues.

Model number is written on the bottom of the laptop,

If you want to clean install which involves formatting the disc clean so you shouldn't see the error as above let us know.

A clean install this way will be from Windows so you won't get Asus installed apps unless they are available on the Asus site, again if I have the model number I will check.

Also do you want to stay with Insider installs or go back to public install?

Tablet is:

Asus Zenbook Fold 17 - UX9702AA

Issue is that my keyboard/mouse are Bluetooth attached - so they become active after Bluetooth is activated - so all those Press F1, F12 with power up button are applicable for wired keyboards.

I ended up running setup from USB attached Windows 11 image selecting Don't keep anything - this cleared up weird state I was during upgrades before.

I will stay on 26300 for the time being - I have rebuild all my garbage data collected for the last 16 years from different laptops ... I will take a pause from instant recovery mood I was for last couple of days.

I re-installed Windows 11 from a CD; went back to an old build - then I run Windows Update - I ended up on build 26300 without any problems - now Windows update does not show any newer updates :-)
