Refund Request for Accidental Azure Charge

I am writing to request a refund or billing credit for charges incurred on my Azure subscription due to the accidental activation of Azure AI RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) services.

While exploring features within the Azure portal, I unintentionally enabled the AI RAG service without realizing that charges would begin accruing immediately. The service was never configured for production use, and no workloads were executed. To the best of my knowledge:

• No queries were processed • No documents were indexed • No data was consumed • No active applications or users accessed the service

Unfortunately, I became aware of the charges only after reviewing my billing statement, at which point the accumulated cost had reached approximately USD 1150 (INR 112,000).

Upon discovering the issue, I immediately took the following actions:

• Paid the outstanding balance in full • Disabled and removed the AI service • Reviewed my subscription resources to prevent any future unintended charges

I respectfully request that Microsoft consider providing a full refund or billing credit as a one-time courtesy, given that the service was activated unintentionally and was never used for any actual workload.

We have been an Azure customer for more than two years and have consistently used Microsoft Azure services for our business operations. Throughout this period, we have maintained our subscription in good standing and have promptly settled all invoices. Given our long-standing relationship with Microsoft, I kindly request your consideration for a one-time refund or billing credit for these unintended charges.

    Dear @Raja Feroz

Thank you for providing the details regarding the unexpected charges on your Azure subscription.

I understand your concern regarding the Azure AI RAG service charges and appreciate the steps you took after discovering the issue. However, please understand that this forum is a community support platform, and community members and contributors do not have access to subscription billing information to process refunds, credits, or billing adjustments from here.

The Azure Support team (Billing Team) is the only group that can review the charges and determine whether a refund or credit can be approved.

In this case, to request a review of these charges, I recommend opening an official Azure Support ticket with Microsoft. For more information, you can refer to this website: Azure support
