Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
Hi KL
Please reply with:
- Whether the missing birthday entries still appear in Outlook.com Calendar on the web.
- Whether the related contacts still exist in Outlook.com People.
- Whether the missing entries were created from contact birthdays or typed directly into the Birthday calendar.
- Whether you are viewing the Birthday calendar in the Outlook iOS app or the Apple Calendar app.
Please try these steps:
1) Check Outlook.com on the web first
Sign in to Outlook.com in a browser, then open Calendar > My calendars > Birthdays and make sure the Birthday calendar is selected.
2) Check the related contact in People
In Outlook.com, open People, search for one of the missing birthday entries, then open the contact and confirm that the Birthday field is still saved.
If the birthday field is missing, add it again in the contact and save.
3) Check Deleted contacts and Recover deleted
In Outlook.com or New Outlook, go to People > Deleted.
- If the contact is listed there, restore it.
- If it is not listed, select Recover deleted at the top of the Deleted folder and check whether the missing contact can still be restored.
4) Turn the Birthday calendar off and back on
In Outlook.com Calendar, go to Add calendar > Birthdays, then turn the Birthday calendar off and back on for the correct Outlook.com account.
After that, keep the Birthday calendar selected under My calendars and check again later.
5) Reset the Outlook app sync on iPhone
In Outlook for iOS, go to Settings > select the affected account > Reset Account, then reopen Outlook and check the Calendar again.
6) Remove and re-add the account if reset does not help
If the birthday entries exist in Outlook.com on the web but still do not appear on the iPhone, remove the account from Outlook for iOS and add it again.
7) Use a normal calendar event for entries with extra details
If the entry needs notes, custom details, reminders, or information beyond the birthday date, create it as a regular yearly recurring event in your main Outlook calendar instead of relying only on the Birthday calendar.
The Birthday calendar is tied to birthday information from contacts, so a normal recurring calendar event is safer when you need to preserve extra details.
