I am locked out of my laptop and can't remember the password to unlock it. I have reset my Microsoft password on another device and that does not appear to be the password to unlock the screen on my laptop. When I open my laptop I can see my usual login face and am prompted for the password that I can't remember. Please help.

    Hi Flavio Roias

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. The most important thing is to determine what type of account your laptop is using, because resetting your Microsoft account password does not always update the password Windows is asking for immediately.

Try selecting Sign-in options on the lock screen and see if you can sign in with a PIN, fingerprint, or another method you previously used. If the account is a Microsoft account, use "I forgot my password" on the sign-in screen to start the recovery process. Resetting your Microsoft account password on another device does not always mean Windows will immediately accept the new password at sign-in.

If none of those options are available, let us know whether the account shown on the lock screen is an email address (Microsoft account) or a local username, and we can suggest the next steps.
