Gmail and outlook not syncing

I'm using Microsoft 365 with the new Outlook for Windows and a Gmail account. New mail is received correctly, but Outlook does not synchronize deletes or all Gmail folders. Gmail on the web contains all of my email, and Apple Mail on my iPhone now synchronizes correctly. I also tested Classic Outlook, but it never completed synchronizing all Gmail folders and appeared to hang during the initial download. I have already repaired Outlook, removed and re-added the Gmail account, and reauthorized Google access.

Thank you for confirming. That step is also essential to be checked. Next, you will go to the similar section to verify Gmail's IMAP delete settings. In Gmail again go to-

Gmail Settings → Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Under IMAP Access, check these options:

    • Auto-Expunge: On (recommended).
    • When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:
      • Move the message to the Trash (recommended).

Save any changes and test again(do a test email to yourself and delete it from Outlook)

Delete the test email in Outlook, then immediately check Gmail on the web:

    • Does the message remain in the Inbox?
    • Does it move to Trash?
    • Does it disappear from the Inbox but remain in All Mail?

This will help me identify the issue further.

    Hi!

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Can I ask if you have validated which Gmail folders Outlook is subscribed to? IF not you need to open Gmail and go to Settings → Labels. Make sure important folders have:

    ✅ Show in IMAP

    Especially check:

    All Mail

    Sent Mail

    Drafts

    Trash

    Important

    Custom labels

If a label is not enabled for IMAP, Outlook will not download it.
