How do I sync my xbox 360 profile information with the information on my xbox series X?

I have been having an issue where I am unable to properly download my profile onto either a Xbox 360 console, or a Xbox series X running a Xbox 360 backwards compatible game. After a few days of troubleshooting the problem with Microsoft support, I've concluded that the issue is because when I attempt to download my profile, it's trying to download using an old gamertag and then fails giving me an error code. How can I force the xbox 360 servers to sync to my current and correct gamertag?

Hi Kale

If the issue is truly caused by Xbox 360 services still referencing an old gamertag, unfortunately there is no user-facing way to manually force a gamertag sync between Xbox Series X and the Xbox 360 backward compatibility system. Xbox 360 profile data is synchronized by Microsoft's Xbox services, not locally by the console.

A few things you can try:

  1. Launch an Xbox 360 backward compatible game and open the Xbox 360 guide (Menu + View buttons).
  2. Delete the Xbox 360 profile from the emulator and re-download it.
  3. On your Series X, go to Settings > System > Storage > Clear local Xbox 360 storage, then restart the console and try again.
  4. Remove your Xbox account from the console and add it back, then retry the profile download.

If the profile download still attempts to use an old gamertag, that suggests an account-side synchronization issue. Since you've already worked with Microsoft Support and identified that behavior, the next step would be to contact Xbox Support again and ask them to investigate the Xbox 360 backward compatibility profile associated with your account, as that is not something users or members of the public community can manually help/refresh.

Hope you'll get this sorted out!
