Thanks your answer was very helpful its also what i discovered. Its what i found to be the issue also, an oversight when purchasing. For the price of the Dell 15 D1526x just assumed it had it. "It's just another gadget".

Check with Device Manager, if you've IR based webcam for facial recognition is properly installed.

Fix: Facial recognition not working in Windows 11

Please note, Windows Hello Face recognition, doesn't works on normal or regular webcams.

If your device doesn't have IR based webcam, you can attach and IR based external camera.

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with Windows Hello. The screenshot indicates that Windows is not detecting a Windows Hello-compatible camera. Facial recognition requires a compatible infrared camera; a standard webcam may work normally in the Camera app but still cannot be used for Windows Hello. Similarly, fingerprint recognition remains unavailable when Windows does not detect a compatible fingerprint reader.

First, please confirm whether facial recognition worked previously or has always been unavailable.
