Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Julie O'Kane,
I understand that your GoDaddy email worked in Outlook on your previous computer, but new Outlook on the Windows 11 computer says that the account does not have permission to access it.
Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot view your GoDaddy subscription or arrange a support call. This message may appear when the plan assigned to the GoDaddy mailbox does not include a license for the Outlook desktop apps. For Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy, GoDaddy states that new Outlook must first be activated with an eligible work or school account, normally a Business Professional plan or higher.
Please try the following:
- Sign in to the https://email.godaddy.com/ and check which plan is assigned to the affected mailbox.
- If the plan is Business Professional or higher, contact Godaddy Support and ask them to verify the Outlook desktop license and permissions assigned to the mailbox.
- If the plan is Email Essentials, Email Plus, or Online Business Essentials, ask GoDaddy whether the plan needs to be upgraded or whether another eligible work or school account can activate new Outlook first. GoDaddy’s setup requirements are explained in Add my Microsoft 365 email to Outlook on Windows. (Disclaimer: This is a non-Microsoft website. You can also contact Microsoft Support to have the new Outlook application checked:
- Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support
- In the search bar provided on the page, type "Outlook issue" and press Enter.
- Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.
- Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.
- When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".
- For the category, choose "Outlook".
- Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".
- Confirm your personal email when prompted - this is the email Microsoft will use to communicate with you during and after the support session.
- Explain your situation clearly: Be concise but provide all the relevant details.
The available categories and contact options can vary by region, support hours, and account type. If Microsoft Support confirms that the message is related to the GoDaddy license, GoDaddy will need to review or change that subscription.
I hope this helps you reach the appropriate support team and determine whether the GoDaddy plan is eligible for new Outlook.
