Hi Simon Beaudet,
I can understand how frustrating this situation is, especially after already contacting both Microsoft Support and Xbox Support. I'm sorry to hear you're effectively stuck with an account whose primary alias is no longer usable. That said, there are a few realistic points you unfortunately have to consider here:
- From your description, this appears to be an account-level issue rather than a Microsoft Rewards issue. Microsoft Rewards Support may help with redemption confirmations and receipts, overall Rewards-related matters. But ownership of aliases and account identity settings are managed by the teams responsible for Microsoft accounts.
- Account security and privacy are also important factors: If Rewards support agents could simply redirect communications to a different email address upon request, it would create obvious security risks. For that reason, account recovery and alias changes are governed by strict verification requirements and policies, with no exceptions.
You mentioned that you tried changing the alias, so I'm wondering whether the new primary alias was changed to an Outlook.com address? When adding an alias, Microsoft normally allows you to either add an existing email address or create a new Outlook.com address. If you have not already tried, it may be worth testing changing primary once more time.
Beyond that, the best remaining option would be to continue working with Microsoft Account Support and ask whether any additional ownership verification or account recovery options are available. However, if the account teams said a change is not possible, there is usually no way for anyone to override an account-level restriction.
I know this is probably not the answer you were hoping for, but I think it's better to be transparent rather than give false expectations. Even if you can get in contact with Rewards Support team, there's unlikely anything they can do in this situation.
