All Azure resources missing after subscription reactivation — backend investigation required before retention deadline

My Azure Pay-As-You-Go subscription was cancelled and subsequently reactivated.

The subscription now displays Active, but all resources that previously existed under it are missing. This includes:

  • Resource groups
  • Azure SQL databases
  • Storage Accounts
  • App Services
  • Logic Apps

The Azure portal shows zero resources. After authenticating with Azure CLI and selecting the correct tenant and subscription, the CLI also returns no resource groups or resources.

Microsoft’s cancellation notification stated that data stored in the subscription would be retained until 7 August 2026 before permanent deletion.

I already have an open Azure Subscription Management support request, but it has received no active engineer engagement. I will provide the full support request number and subscription ID privately to Microsoft staff.

The subscription is already active, so this is not a normal subscription-reactivation question. The issue appears to require a Microsoft backend investigation to determine whether the resource metadata and underlying service data remain in retention and can be restored or rehydrated.

Could a Microsoft support engineer please:

  1. Contact me through a private message.
  2. Review the existing Subscription Management case.
  3. Create or escalate this into an internal technical support request.
  4. Confirm whether the resources remain within the retention period.
  5. Request suspension of permanent deletion while the existing support case is being investigated.

The missing resources supported a production system, and the outage is preventing customer onboarding. The stated retention deadline is 7 August 2026.My Azure Pay-As-You-Go subscription was cancelled and subsequently reactivated.

    Hi @Danie prinsloo ,

Thank you for providing the detailed information.

I understand that your Azure Pay-As-You-Go subscription has been reactivated, but none of the previously existing resources (Resource Groups, Azure SQL Databases, Storage Accounts, App Services, and Logic Apps) are visible in either the Azure portal or Azure CLI. I also understand your concern regarding the stated retention deadline of 7 August 2026.

Since your subscription is already active and the issue involves missing resources after reactivation, this requires investigation by the Azure Support team using internal tools. As you already have an active Subscription Management support request, could you please share the support request (SR) number with us via private message so that we can review the case and coordinate with the appropriate support team?

    Additionally, please confirm the following:

Is the subscription status shown as Active in the Azure portal?

Have you verified that you are signed in to the correct tenant and have selected the correct subscription?

Have you confirmed that the subscription ID shown in the Azure portal matches the one referenced in the cancellation notification?

Once we receive your SR number, we'll review the current status of your support request and determine whether it needs to be routed to the appropriate technical team for further investigation.

Given the approaching retention deadline, I recommend continuing to engage through your existing support request so the responsible team can investigate as quickly as possible.

Thank you, and I look forward to your update.
