New Outlook displays incorrect account name

Hello,

I recently migrated my Comcast/Xfinity email account to Yahoo and have been configuring both Classic Outlook and New Outlook.

There were many time-consuming issues bringing in my contacts and using distribution lists, but it appears to be functioning correctly. Note that I prefer to use Classis but have not been able to import my contacts - long story I will have to address later because I have to more on at the moment. Most issues have now been resolved.

The BIG remaining issue is that New Outlook displays my name incorrectly.

It shows "Jo08yce Grande" instead of "Joyce Grande."

An important detail is that we already corrected my display name in my Yahoo account, and that correction successfully propagated to Classic Outlook, where my name now appears correctly. However, New Outlook still displays "Jo08yce," even after restarting Outlook.

Troubleshooting already completed

  • Verified the Yahoo account settings.
  • Corrected the Yahoo display name to "Joyce Grande."
  • Confirmed Classic Outlook now displays the correct name.
  • Performed an Office Online Repair.
  • Verified Outlook profiles and data files.
  • Successfully imported contacts.
  • Successfully tested sending and receiving email, including group emails.
  • Restarted Outlook multiple times.
  • Could you please tell me:
  1. Where New Outlook is obtaining the display name "Jo08yce"?
  2. Why it is not using the corrected Yahoo display name?
  3. How can I update New Outlook so it displays Joyce Grande instead?

Thank you for your assistance.

[New Outlook] shows "Jo08yce Grande" instead of "Joyce Grande."

Is this wrong name shown when you are typing on the "To:" line of a new email? e.g.

    User's image

If so, then it is probably coming from your Suggested People/Autocomplete cache. There are two ways to fix this:

    Self Contact

Do you have a Contact entry for yourself? If so check the name. If not, create one. Since the suggestions search looks in Contacts first, this will mask any bad entry in the Autocomplete cache

    Clear your Suggested People/Autocomplete cache
