change subscription to anew laptop

My laptop is dying and I will need to replace it. How can I switch my 365 subscription to a new laptop? I hope it can be done without too much trauma. Just getting to this page to get help was an ordeal. Email me the answer so I don't have to repeat this process.

If Microsoft 365 was not pre-installed on the old laptop, when you first activated Microsoft 365 (Office) that licence should have become associated to your Microsoft Account as a digital licence online and it is from there that you can install Office on the new laptop without the need for a product key:
