Copilot insists that it inferred a network device name. That cannot be the case.

Question

During a chat session with Copilot, I asked it to help me build a script for my router to block/unblock a connected device. Along the way it returned the following:
"Your browser is logged in, and the Access Control page is visible

I can see the device list, including your target device:

XXXXXXXX‑s‑S24 [FULL DEVICE NAME REDACTED]

IP: 192.168.1.70

I asked Copilot how it learned that device name and it said it inferred it from other data. I find that exceedingly unlikely. It must have read that from the page as it originally stated. Whether I knowingly granted access to that data or not, my real problem is that Copilot is now lying to me about where it learned the device name. It insists through multiple question that it only guessed the name. It states that it DOES NOT have access to page data from my router when that must not be true.

Why is Copilot permitted to lie?
